Tara rafting camp Encijan - Tara Canyon
Overview
A tour that combines three days of rafting through the entire Tara River canyon with a jeep safari visit to Sutjeska National Park. The Tara River is known by the nickname "the Tear of Europe" thanks to the purity of its water, which is drinkable along its entire course, something you will have the chance to experience during the multi-day rafting trip. While visiting Sutjeska National Park, we will stop at the Dragoš Saddle viewpoint, which offers a spectacular view of the Perućica rainforest, one of the last preserved primeval forests in Europe, and of the Skakavac waterfall, which plunges from a height of 75 m. We will then organize a picnic on the Prijevor plateau while enjoying the panoramic view of untouched nature and the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maglić, along with the surrounding mountains. For lovers of an active holiday, the Prijevor plateau offers excellent hiking trails.
Itinerary
After arriving at the Hum–Šćepan Polje border crossing at the roughly agreed time, in the afternoon between 4 and 6 PM, a half-hour drive through the pleasant setting of the Tara River canyon follows, to the locality of Brštanovica, which is also the starting point for rafting and where our Camp Encijan is located. At Brštanovica itself, secure parking for personal vehicles is provided for all participants of the package. Upon arrival at the camp, after a welcome drink, guests are accommodated in mountain cabins-bungalows and get acquainted with the setting of the camp and its surroundings. A shared dinner for all participants is scheduled for around 8 PM, featuring ethnic specialties of the local region on the menu (young lamb, veal, cheese, prosciutto, kajmak...), which then continues into an evening of socializing around the campfire with music, in the pleasant setting of the camp, late into the night...
