Overview
Are you ready to discover a new, wild canyon, fully explored for the first time only a few years ago? If you want to explore the Hrčavka canyon and experience a true adventure, then this package is for you. Test your strength, find out how brave you are, and feel the adrenaline rush through your body.
Within a mountain gorge of Mount Zelengora, at an altitude of 1,570 m, rises the Hrčavka River, the largest tributary of the Sutjeska. This river belongs to the municipality of Foča, more precisely to Sutjeska National Park, and together with its tributaries it flows into the Sutjeska River at an altitude of 530 m. The Hrčavka canyon is one of the last to be discovered in Europe and, owing to its nature, it remains wild and untouched. The route through the canyon is mapped out over a total length of about 13 km, and passing through it can take between 4 and 6 hours. The Hrčavka canyon is flanked on both sides by rock walls reaching up to 200 m in height. If you wish to take a swim, be prepared for still but clean water. The canyon itself is demanding, and you will need to use mountaineering equipment, swim, and jump from the rocks.
Itinerary
After meeting guests at a previously agreed location, such as our Encijan agency in Foča or our camp in the very heart of the Tara River canyon, in the morning hours (recommended time between 9 and 10 a.m.), we transport the travelers in our 4x4 vehicles to the Hrčavka canyon. Upon arrival, the canyoning equipment is handed out, and after an introductory briefing we enter the canyon, where this fantastic and unforgettable experience begins. Passing through the canyon takes between 4 and 6 hours, depending on the physical and mental fitness of the participants. Within the canyon you will encounter exciting obstacles, water slides and waterfalls, and proper climbing equipment will be needed to overcome some of the obstacles. We will also make breaks at certain spots for rest and taking photos. After exiting the canyon, we return to the vehicles, and if you wish we can arrange a visit to the memorial historical park located within Sutjeska National Park. You can also extend this tour with an additional overnight stay at our Encijan camp, in a unique oasis of peace and hedonism on a half-board basis, or combine it with any of the other tours from our offer.
