D8 – Piva Lake Cruise

After breakfast and packing, a half-hour drive brings us to the small, picturesque town of Plužine on the shore of Lake Piva, where we begin our cruise. On the way to Plužine we pass through the impressive canyon of the Piva River, with its beautiful and distinctive landscape architecture and steep, vertical canyon cliffs, and we come across a few very interesting structures, such as the impressive bridge over the Piva, which rises more than 100 meters high, and we cross over the imposing „Mratinje“ hydroelectric dam, which stands more than 220 m tall and is the highest structure of its kind in Europe. Upon arriving at the starting location in Plužine, at around 11 a.m. we board the tourist boats and, after a brief briefing, we begin cruising Lake Piva and its many beautiful inlets, such as the „Rešetka“, „Zapisnik“, „Mioč“ and „Kruševo“ inlets and so on. In the three-hour version of the Lake Piva cruise we make breaks at certain specific spots for swimming, taking photos and refreshment, and from time to time we go ashore and take gentle walks to nearby viewpoints and the like… And at a particular spot on the lake, halfway through, we dock the boats at the „Tišina“ ethno camp, where a one-hour stop is planned with a break for coffee, tea, drinks and refreshment… In the afternoon, after a three-hour ride, we dock at the home port in Plužine, where after disembarking we have an organized group lunch at a nearby ethno restaurant right on the lakeshore, offering homemade and traditional cuisine and dishes of the local region, such as „grilled trout“ freshly caught from the lake with sides of grilled vegetables, homemade bread, cheese and the like, after which we conclude the tour at around 3 p.m. You can also extend this tour with an additional overnight stay at our Encijan camp, in a unique oasis of peace and hedonism on a half-board basis, or combine it with any of the other tours from our offer.
