Perucica is the most precious natural treasure of NP Sutjeska. Wild and untouched jungle and one of the last oases of nature in Europe. In 1952, Perucica was declared a strictly protected nature reserve, and its unique beauty has since drawn visitors from all over the world. From the Dragos sedlo viewpoint, you can take in a breathtaking panorama of the forest’s 13,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. But the true magic of Perucica lies deep within its ancient woods, where towering trees, cascading waterfalls, and abundant wildlife create a truly enchanting scene.
One of the most popular attractions in Perucica is Skakavac, an 75-meter-high waterfall that plummets down sheer vertical cliff. But Perucica is more than just a scenic wonderland. It is also home to a rich diversity of plant and animal life. The forest is home to over 170 species of trees and shrubs, and 1,000 species of herbaceous plants, including many rare and endangered species. It is a haven for wildlife, including wolves, bears, deer, and variety of bird species.
The primeval forest is a strictly protected are and along with those principles, during your visit we must behave with respect and must not ruin what Mother Nature unselfishly gave to us.
