Area of natural beauty

Sutjeska National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in this part of Europe it is certainly the most beautiful and most diverse one. It deserved to gain the status of a protected nature reserve. The oldest National park covers an area of more than 16 000 hectares. And the most of this park is covered with forest and pastures.

Bosnian highest peak ‘Maglic’ with 2386 meters above sea level belongs to this park. This mountain is a guardian of one of the largest primeval forests in Europe, Perucica. It is considered that Perucica is 20 000 years old. Soak in the breathtaking panorama of Sutjeska National Park from the two main viewpoints, Dragoš sedlo at 1300 and Prijevor at 1668 meters above sea level.

Mountain Zelengora offers an active vacation, but this is primarily a vacation for the soul. Visiting clear glacial lakes and collecting herbs, berries and mushrooms are just some of the activities that Zelengora has to offer.  Eight glacial lakes on Zelengora mountain are known as “Mountain eyes”.  The Sutjeska River has carved an impressive valley through the park and the significant part of the park is an impressive Hrcavka canyon.

In this park you can feel and see the beauty of nature; the roar and the magical silence of the forests, the sound of crystal clear rivers and streams, golden eagles and call of wilderness.

Tjentiste

Tjentiste is a village and a valley located in the municipality of Foca, Republika Srpska,  Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is particularly well-known for its historical and natural significance. One of the most notable features at Tjentiste is the Memorial complex to the Battle of Sutjeska that took place during World War II. The battle is called Case Black or Battle of Sutjeska or Operation Fall Shwarz. The military action took places during WW II and saw Axis forces attempt to rout a group of Yugoslavian forces and capture their leader. Around 20 000 partisans fought against 120,00 German soldiers and their local helpers in the Battle of Sutjeska. Over 7,000 people were killed during this battle.

Tjentiste is home to a significant number of medieval tombstones known as stećci. Stećci are a type of monumental tombstone that is widespread in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over 300 og them have been recorded at Tjentiste and its surroundings.

Every summer there is a music festival OK fest held at Tjentiste. The festival feature a broad musical lineup, including both local and international performers, and it is visited by thousands of people from the local and neighboring countries.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, swimming in the pool ‘Jezero’ and sample local cuisine in the several restaurants.

Prijevor

Prijevor is a mountain plateau at 1668 meters above sea level, and is also one of the most beautiful viewpoints in  Sutjeska National park. It is located in the foothills of Mountain Maglic, the highest peak of Bosnia and Herzegovina and offers stunning views of the surrounding lakes.

Prijevor is a popular starting point for several hiking trails, including the trails to Mount Maglic and Trnovacko lake, one of the most beautiful glacial lakes in the Balkans.  In the middle of the plateau, there’s a cold-water well, and at the center, a tall watchtower offers great views of the surrounding mountains, making you feel like you’re in Swiss Alps.

During summer, the plateau is full of pretty mountain flowers, some of which you can only find here. You can also find medicinal herbs to make tasty mountain teas. In August, you can pick and taste fresh mountain blueberries that grow all over the plateau.

If you plan to explore the wonders of the Sutjeska Nation Park, be sure to include a visit to this plateau. Your experience here is bound to be a memorable one.

Wild and untouched jungle

Perucica is a wild and untouched jungle and one of the last oases of nature in Europe. The most precious and the biggest pearl of NP Sutjeska natural treasure in Perucica. For centuries it has been resisting to civilization and human desire to conquer her due to material interests. While that may be so, but through centuries her inaccessibility was her biggest defense and in 1952, Perućica was pronounced a strictly protected reserve of nature, like one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe.

Upon reaching the „Dragoš sedlo“ viewpoint, you’ll be met with a breathtaking vista spanning across 13 000 hectares of pristine nature. It is experience on its own, but when you look deep into the profound and see unreal image of wild beauty and waterfall „Skakavac“, and how it falls down along vertical rocks in length of 75 meters with all its force. It`s a breathtaking sight, and definitely amazing. And when you thought how phenomenal it would be to go under the waterfall in that moment, you awaken the adventurer gene that all of us carry deeply buried inside ourselves.

To go deep into the heart of the jungle and to put a crown on that effort by a shower under the waterfall, while thousands of icy drops fall on you like frost, is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is prohibited to explore the Perucica on your own, you will need to have a certified guide accompany you. The primeval forest is a strictly protected area and along with those principles, during your visit, we must behave with respect and must not ruin what Mother Nature unselfishly gave to us.

Beautiful and adorable

Zelengora is one of the most beautiful mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Mountain eyes”, clear glacial lakes, located in the very bases of its peaks made by God’s hand are a paradise for nature lovers.

Orlovačko Lake – rich in fish, attracts many types of fishermen to its shores every day and testing their luck. Crno jezero (Black Lake) – oval-shaped, 80 m in length and 1-1.5 m in depth. The shoreline is swampy, with black mold covering not only the coast but the bottom as well, and therefore the name Black Lake. Those are just two of 8 lakes known as  ‘mountain eyes’.

Zelengora offers a variety of activitise for visitors, but this is primarily a vacation for the soul. Hiking, walking, biking along arranged and marked trails, swimming in one of the crystal -clear lake, collecting herbs, berries and mushrooms are just some of the activities that you can enjoy while visiting Zelengora.

We recommended it as an ideal destination for a family holidays, away from the noise and bustle . For nature lovers this is the a very favorable destination from the financial aspect too.  Zelengora is the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries.

Emerald green beauty

At the bottom of Maglic Mountain, at an altitude of 1520 meters, lies one of the last jewels of unspoiled nature in its emerald green beauty. Trnovacko lake is surrounded by lush green mountains and forests, creating a truly breathtaking sight.

Trnovacko lake is a popular destination for swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping. Visitors can also enjoy variety of activities in this area, such as visiting nearby Primeval forest Perucica or conquering Maglic, the highest peak of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The nature that surrounds the lake offers many possible tours and climbs. Climbing to Maglic mountain is the most exciting one. The path that starts from the lake to the top is one of the easiest directions to climb the Maglic, and most hikers choose that route.

It’s no surprise that during the summer tourist season, hundreds of tourists, campers, and fishermen flock the lake. If you decide to visit this pristine natural gem, even for just a few hours, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.

Mystical and unknowable

Mountain Maglic is the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the Sutjeska National Park. It is a  popular destination for hiking and mountaineering, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Located in the most beautiful part of the National Park Sutjeska, in eternal symbiosis with one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe, Perucica, makes this destination one of the most attractive tourist destinations. Maglic, known as the foggy mountain whose top is mostly covered with fog, is also a guardian of one of the largest primeval forests in Europe, Perucica. During the summer tourist season and good weather, when the giant turns into a benign and generous mountain, hundreds of hikers, adventurers and nature lovers move to conquer its peaks, and the mountain giant generously accepts them to its benevolent bosom. Mountain Maglic is truly worth visiting, offering an unforgettable experience as you endeavor to conquer its peaks. And if you’re a true fan of the peaks and mountains, and if you want to test the limits of your capabilities, and to try to register more than one win in your life, Encijan adventure team is at your service. Everything from experienced mountain guides, to perfect organization with the equipment and utility vehicles.

This mountain offers an unforgettable experience.

Canyon Hrcavka

Canyoning is a thrilling adventure sport that involves exploring canyons by rappeling, swimming, and jumping. Canyons can be very easy or extremely difficult, though emphasis in the sport is usually on aesthetics and fun rather than pure difficulty.

Between the mountain ridge of the mountain Zelengora at an altitude of 1570 meters springs Hrcavka River. Hrčavka is the largest tributary of Sutjeska and the altitude difference from the source to the confluence in the Sutjeska is about 1000 meters.

Hrcavka Canyon is one of the last discovered canyons in Europe and by its very nature is wild and intact. The passage through the canyon is traced with two times the length of about 13 km and the passage through the canyon can take between 4 h-6 h. Hrcavka Canyon is covered with rocks on both sides up to 200 meters high. If you want to swim be ready for a old but clean water.

The canyon itself is quite demanding and it is necessary to use the alpinistic equipment as well to swim and jump from rocks.

We'll be back Apsolutno bez ikakve zamerke na bilo šta.

Prvi put sam u Encijan došla kada sam imala 9 godina. A obradovaće vas i krofnama!

Ivan i Jasmina Miljković, Beograd

Mind-blowing! Not your average, generic camp! With all due respect to other camps, there's no comparison between Encijan and others! Location of the camp is unbeatable, untouched nature all around, beautiful cabins and common place that conform to surrounding nature and a view of magnificent turquoise Tara. The staff couldn't be more polite, they really make you feel taken care of. And the food is.. WOW! And if you have some special requests regarding your nutrition (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.), you need not worry, all your wishes will be met with. August of 2020 was the second time I went to Encijan, first time with my family and this time with friends, so it's safe to say that this camp is perfect for everyone and for every occasion. And I had fun every time 🙂 In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Encijan! ♥
