How it all began
Encijan Adventure Team began offering whitewater rafting through the Tara River Canyon to customers looking for adventure back in 2002. Very few team members, as founders of the company, set out on a simple mission to provide the opportunity to the adventure seekers to experience the awe-inspiring natural wonder of the Canyon on Tara River rafting trips.
In the very heart of the Tara River Canyon, miles away from modern civilization and at the beginning of the most exciting rafting part of river, there is a place called Brstanovica and Camp Encijan on it, one of the most beautiful camps on Tara river and only one at the Bosnian side of river.
We simply followed in the footsteps of forestry workers (rafters) who, as early as the first half of 20th century, started to bring logs down the Tara River. At the beginning it was just an everyday job, a dangerous one. It had nothing to do with adventure trips nor there were travelers coming to the river. Those forestry workers were in fact pioneering river adventurists. And few decades later, workers came to the idea to share the adventure with people from all walks of life. Those humble beginnings saw the birth of the modern adventure vacation, making whitewater rafting through the Tara River Canyon available to anyone with the desire and a willing spirit.
Encijan is not just a camp, for nature lovers and people that love adventure, relaxing and getting away from civilization, Encijan represents one of the last remaining oases of peace in nature that is still not touched by human hand and they always and often come back.
